Pastor Russell Shewmaker has been serving as pastor of Pilgrim since 1987. He is a graduate of Concordia Seminary of St. Louis. He and his wife Nancy have three sons, three daughters-in-law, and one granddaughter. Nancy is part of the teaching staff of Concordia Christian Academy (CCA--concordiachristianacademy.com).
Worship Nancy Shewmaker plans the hymns that are sung in worship and plans the special music. She also changes the banners displayed in the chancel. She is a teacher at CCA and wife of Pastor Shewmaker.
Organist Gaye has been playing the organ at Pilgrim since the late 1980’s. She started out playing at her home church when she was 13 years old. Gaye and her husband, Nathan, have been married for over 20 years. They love to travel as well as watch Red Wolves football and basketball games. Their daughter, Kaley, is 13 years old and loves to dance. Gaye’s husband Nathan owns Kalmer Solutions here in Jonesboro and she is a stay-at-home mom.
Board of Care Sybil has been married to Larry for 46 years. They were married in Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She is a retired primary school librarian. She coordinates the efforts of the Board of Care. She volunteers one day a week at CCA. Sybil also serves through work of women's group of Pilgrim, the Ruth Guild.
Children's Ministry Sarah works with the Children's Ministry at Pilgrim. She is the 1st grade teacher at Concordia Christian Academy. She is originally from Illinois and graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in May 2011. In her free time, Sarah enjoys reading, watching and playing sports, and craft projects.
Property Ray Wolf and his wife, Linda, have been members of Pilgrim since 1994 when they transferred from Zion Waldenburg. They have one son and daughter-in-law, Jared & Kayla, one cat, and one grand-cat. Ray enjoys hunting, fishing, & being outside.
Choir & Newsletter Cara O'Brien writes Pilgrim's monthly newsletter. She has been a member of Pilgrim since 2012. She and her husband Kory O'Brien have been married for 3 years. They both work at CCA and have a pug named Charlie. She also helps Nancy with the music for worship and directs the choir. She's even been known occasionally to lead the singing with her clarinet.
